- Louie F. Schmidt, age 42, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born February 14, 1968, son of Robert and Elaine (Biese) Schmidt. Louie was born and raised on the Schmidt Homestead Family Farm south of Hollandtown. He was a graduate of Kaukauna High School. On May 27, 2000, Louie married the former Jody Urban of Campbellsport at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. The couple lived in Kaukauna their entire married lives. Louie was employed by Vanderloop Equipment and owned his own DJ/Karaoke business "Louster's Entertainment." He was an avid Packers fan, sheepshead player, snowmobiler and bird watcher. Louie especially enjoyed camping with his wife and kids.
He was a member of the Kaukauna Lions. Louie was a member of St. John- Sacred Heart Church in Sherwood but liked visiting different Catholic Churches and was previously a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown where he occasionally sang with the men's choir.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Jody, Kaukauna; his son, Travis Kurscheidt, and his daughter, Taylor Jo Schmidt, both at home; his parents, Robert and Elaine Schmidt, Kaukauna; his siblings: Karen (Robert) Krause, Town of Hobart, Kathy (Bill) Richardson, Combined Locks, Kristy (Matt) Amerson, Kaukauna; numerous nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his wife's mother, Shirley Urban, as well as Jody's brothers and sister and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his nephew (godchild) David Richardson and his father-in-law, James Urban.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Francis Church, County Road CE, Hollandtown with Fr. Willard Vande Loo officiating. Friends will be received on Monday, July 5, 2010, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna (920-766-2099), from 3 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the cortege leaves for the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery.
