      Tevsh, Nancy C. (Hazen)

Nancy, C. Tevsh, 68, Sommer Drive, went home to her Lord Saturday morning, Dec. 5, 2009, with her daughter at her side, while at the Sharon Richardson Community Hospice. She had a brief battle with ovarian cancer that was unexpected, yet she faced it with courage and no complaint.

Nancy was born July 22, 1941, in De Pere, Wis., to Christian and Agnes (Gomm) Hazen. She was a graduate of Nicolet High School in De Pere and received her degree as a Registered Nurse from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Oshkosh.

On Jan. 8, 1966, Nancy and Joseph V. Tevsh were united in marriage at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere. They took residence in Sheboygan, where Nancy was employed at St. Nichlolas Hospital for 20 years. She then worked at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home until her retirement in 2006.

Nancy loved her very large family and large family through marriage. She was present for just about every family activity that would take place. She took great joy and pride in the home she and her husband built in the Town of Wilson. She loved flowers and gardening at her one acre home site. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family statewide as well as to Illinois, to see her daughter and grandsons, Arizona and California to see her sisters-in-law, Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada. She was an avid reader during her recent retirement. She was a member of the Sheboygan Garden Club and Shoreline Women's Club.

In addition to her husband, Joseph, she is survived by her daughter, Theresa Tevsh Thoms, Joliet, Ill.; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Christian and Suzanne Tevsh, Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Brock and Benjamin Thoms, and Reese Tevsh; four sisters, Linda (Mike) Zey, Lois DeBroux, Delores Hazen, De Pere; Jean (Edward) Slasurek, Green Bay; two brothers, Harold (Marie) Hazen, Green Bay; and Chris (Bernadine), California; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Joan Hazen, Evelyn Grobschmidt and Georgiana Plamann and a brother, Richard Hazen.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 822 New Jersey Avenue, Sheboygan, WI 53081. Mass will be officiated by Rev. Glenn Powers. A time of visitation and support will be held from 9:45 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Nancy Tevsh's name for the Salvation Army or Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their kindness and support in her last week among us.

Nancy will always be remembered for her generous support to charities, caring for those in need, strong moral character, her tolerance of people's opinions and great compassion.
