When a young child his father purchased a farm in Brothertown where they family moved and resided until 1900 when the father died. Alfred was united in marriage to Magdelina Mertens Aug. 24, 1899, and the following year he purchased a cheese factory at this place, conducting the same until shortly before his death, when he was obliged to sell out on account of poor health to the Heller Bros. The cause of his death was consumption. He was buried from the M. E. church at this place, March 2, with interment in the family lot at Garnet. Rev. J. F.
