- Mrs. Theodore Schaffer, 63, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Sunday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Nic Diedrich, following a short illness.
Mrs. Schaffer had been visiting at the home of her nephew and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Diedrich, Route 2, Hilbert, but came to the home of her sister for the Thanksgiving holiday. Complaining that she did not feel well, Mrs. Diedrich urged her to remain with her. She was stricken Saturday with a hemorrhage of the brain.
Margaret Baer Schaffer was born Sept. 27, 1876 at Hilbert and was married to Theodore Schaffer in 1899. They lived for a few years at Manitowoc where Mr. Schaffer was employed as section foreman but later bought a farm near Colby where they lived for several years. After leaving the farm they lived for some time in the village of Colby. They moved to Sheboygan and a few years later to Hilbert. Mr. Schaffer passed away four years ago.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Lester Kaeting, Sheboygan, with whom she lived since Mr. Schaffers death; Mrs. Frank Wills, Colby; a brother, Matthew Baer, Hilbert; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Nilles, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Robert Taubel, New London; Mrs. Nicholas Diedrich, Hilbert and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Marys Catholic church, with burial in the family lot in St. Marys cemetery. The Rev. Theo. Kelue was in charge of the services.
