Bevernitz, Milton
Milton Bevernitz, age 89, of Clintonville, passed away Monday, November 9, 2009, at the Shawano Medical Center. Milton was born on February 14, 1920, in the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County, WI. He was the son of the late Christ and Emma (Seitz) Bevernitz. Milton grew up in Clintonville and as a young man became employed at A & P Grocery Store in Clintonville. Milton then decided to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army where he served with the 41st Infantry G Company during WWII in the South Pacific. Milton earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star while serving and returned home at the end of WWII. A few years later Milton was united in marriage to Nathalie Thurk in Clintonville on December 20, 1947. The couple raised a family in Clintonville and were married for 58 years before Nathalie passed away on August 31, 2005. Milton was dedicated to working his entire life. Most of his hours were spent doing masonry work for his family's masonry and construction business where he built many of the silos for local farmers. Milton worked until 1993 retiring at the age of 73. He was a member of the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include two daughters: Marcia (Hugh) Crane, Chippewa Falls; Peggy Bevernitz, Clintonville; two sons: Mike (Peggy) Bevernitz, Clintonville; Craig (Clarry) Bevernitz, Clintonville; seven grandchildren: Melissa (Travis) Martin, Chippewa Falls; Meghan (Josh) Crane-Anderson, Chippewa Falls; Mollie Crane, Chippewa Falls; Andy Bevernitz, Chicago; Ryan Bevernitz, Clintonville; and Makenna and Alaina Bevernitz, Clintonville. five great-grandchildren: Madalyn, Leah, and Lydia Martin, Chippewa Falls and Maison and Sofia Crane-Anderson, Chippewa Falls; two sisters: Bernice (Lee) Uecker, Caroline; Gladys Bevernitz, Clintonville. Also several nieces and nephews.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nathalie, a brother Elder, and three sisters: Norma Ippolitto, Jeanette Thies, and Dorothy Bevernitz.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery also in Clintonville where military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the Clintonville American Legion Post #63 and VFW Post #664. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, Milton's family would appreciate memorials for the Clintonville Veterans Memorial.
