- Albert Verkuilen, a former resident of this community (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at the Stanley hospital on Friday, April 9th, 1948, having reached the age of 72 years. He had been a resident of Stanley since 1932. The deceased was born in Hollandtown, Wis.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Paul Zais, Stanley, Mrs. Reinhart Rebenzer, Chippewa Falls, and three sons, Lawrence, Milwaukee, Charles of West Allis and Clarence of Detroit, Mich., two sisters, Mrs. Fred M. Schmidt of Thorp and Mrs. Barbara Roeter of Wausau, and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Anns Church in Stanley, Rev. Paul Pitzenberger officiating, and burial being made in St. Marys Cemetery there.

Funeral services for Albert Verkuilen, who died at Victory Hospital Friday morning were held at St. Ann's Church, Monday morning. The Rev. Paul Pitzenberger officiated.
Mr. Verkuilen was born in Hollandtown, April 30, 1876. He was married to Mary Schultz on May 25, 1903 in Thorp. They lived in Thorp until 1909.
Previous to moving to Stanley, in 1932, they lived in Somerset, Withee and Athens. Mr. Verkuilen was for many years an employee of the Soo Line railroad.
Two sons preceded him in death. Frank died in Athens, Wis., and Ronald, a World War II casualty, died on Saipan.
Surviving are his widow, two daughters, (Norene) Mrs. Paul Zais, of Stanley; (Magdeline) Mrs. Reinart Rubenzer, of Chippewa Falls, three sons, Lawrence of Milwaukee; Charles, of West Allis; Clarence, of Detroit, and two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Roeter, of Wausau and Mrs. Fred Smith, of Thorp.
Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Acting as pall bearers were Herman Everson, R. B. Moldenhauer, John Amerling, Fred Valley, Joe Saurer, and Pete Henke.
