    • Carl H. Hoewisch, age 92, went home to the Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Manawa Community Nursing Center. He was born on March 4, 1919 in the Town of Caledonia, Waupaca County, son of the late Carl F. and Frieda (Bruss) Hoewisch. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church on Marsh Road, Fremont, where he was a member all his life. Carl and his wife Ardyce nee Schedler, farmed many years near Fremont, before moving to Hayward to follow his passion of working with oxen at a tourist farm. He moved back to the Fremont area after he retired. Many interests throughout his life included building his own farm tools and machinery, training and showing oxen in countless parades, playing his accordion and harmonica, researching ancestry and old books written in the German language, carving miniatures, creating displays to entertain and educate especially at nursing homes. Carl's greatest passion was following, serving, and giving glory to the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

      Carl is survived by his children: James (Lana) Hoewisch, Susan (Ervin) Kohut, Tony (Joetta) Hoewisch; grandchildren: Brent (Judy) Biegel; Chad, Byron (Althea), Angela Hoewisch; Michael (fiancee Lindsay) Kohut, Jennifer (friend Jared) Kohut; Brenda (Mathew) Schweiger; great-grandchildren: Kendra (Zach), Michael, LaTasha, Josiah, Anna; sister-in-law: Lois Hoewisch; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

      Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ardyce; daughter Sandra; great-grandson Kenneth; 6 brothers, 4 sisters, 3 brothers-in-law and 5 sisters-in-law.

      The funeral service for Carl will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church (E9016 Marsh Road, Fremont) with Rev. Douglas Reinders officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville on Wednesday, January 25, from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, E9016 Marsh Road, Fremont, WI 54940.

      Carl's family would like to thank the staff at Manawa Community Nursing Center, and also his Zion church family for their care, concern and love for Carl.
