    • Richard C. Schmidt, Combined Locks, age 86, died Thursday, September 6, 2018 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. He was born in Neenah on April 26, 1932 to the late Frank and Ida (Strey) Schmidt. Richard was a proud Navy veteran, who served during the Korean War. He married Joan “Dolly“ Stoeger on August 4, 1956 at Sacred Heart Parish in Appleton. In his later years, Richard enjoyed bird watching; in his younger years he loved old cars and sailing. He loved his two cats, Keeper, and Pretty Boy.

      Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolly; children: Richard (Vicki) Schmidt Jr., Combined Locks; Wendy (Michael) Huebner, Appleton; Dawn Timmers (Mark Rudolph), Kaukauna; and Dana (Jeff) Vander Velden, Combined Locks; grandchildren: Michael (Linnea) Huebner, Jackie Drammeh (Cristian Flores), Ben (Michelle) Timmers, Arianne (Joe) Reinke, Cody Timmers (Cassee Francart), Katie (Keith) Johnson and Tanner Vander Velden; great grandchildren: Kirra, Maddie and Annalise; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Sandy Schmidt, Fred Stoeger, Marian “Tootie” Mass and Mya Johnson. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

      In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; numerous in-laws; and other relatives.

      Visitation will be held Thursday, September 13, 2018 at O’CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 5:00 p.m. until time of Funeral at 7:00 p.m. Deacon George Schraufnagel will officiate. Military honors will immediately follow.
