    Gloria Jean Riehl, age 76 of Black Creek, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at her home. Gloria was born on January 21, 1948 in Shiocton to the late David and Lucille Suprise. She married Leslie Riehl on January 9, 1965; he preceded her in death in 2011. Gloria enjoyed her monthly coffee clutch with her sisters. In a large family like hers there is always something to celebrate! She worked several jobs, including Dave’s Center Valley Grocery, Marcks’ Grocery in Shiocton, The Plant Station, Steins and even a day at VandeWalle’s Candy. One of Gloria’s passions in life was baking. It wasn’t often you went to her home without being treated to some sweets. She also loved creating ceramics – it was a hobby she shared with both her children and grandchildren. Gloria was known for her green thumb and loved plants, from gardens to flower arrangements. The holidays were her favorite and she enjoyed cooking, decorating, and celebrating with her family.


    Gloria is survived by her Children: Cory (Dianne) Riehl, Andy (Tina) Riehl and Michelle (Jamie) Wagner. Grandchildren: Brandon (Jamie), Adam, Ethan (Janessa), Emma (Klas) Berghede, Cooper (Britany), Case, Clay and Connor; Great-Grandchildren: Brayden, Preston, Kira, Elias, Dorian, Freya Berghede and Carter; her Siblings: Janice Van Asten, Gail (William) Spoehr, Doris (William) Herminath, Carol (Wayne) Fischer, Regina
    (Philip) Zuleger and Sheryl (Art) Schuh; her Sister-in-Law: Raymond (Linda) Surprise.


    In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria was preceded in death by her Sister: LaVerne Hillsberg; Brothers: Ronald and Raymond Surprise; Brother-in-Laws: Jim Hillsberg and Bill Spoehr; Sister-in-Law: Kay Suprise.


    A gathering of family and friends will take place during the hours of visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Borchardt Moder Funeral Home in Shiocton. Following the visitation, burial will take place in Bovina Cemetery, Town of Bovina.
