Buran, Marie H. "Maude" Marie H. Buran "Maude", Appleton, age 96, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, December 7, 2005. She was born in Hollandtown on May 7, 1909, daughter of the late John and Petronella (Vanden Berg) Van Abel. She graduated from Outagamie County Teachers College and taught at the one-room grade school in Hollandtown. She then went on to be the secretary to the diet nutritionist at Lawrence University. Following Lawrence, she owned and operated the Ideal Cafe. Maude and Harold then resided in Appleton where they owned and operated Evergreen Acres. Maude is survived by her nieces and nephews: Loraine "Butter" Giordana of Kaukauna; Audrey and Frank Neu of Villa Hill, Kentucky; John Van Abel of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; Susan Van Abel of Waukesha, Wisconsin; and Marilyn Pierson of Rockford, Illinois; grandnieces: Sandi Giordana of Green Bay; Audra Giordana of Green Bay; Susan Price of San Diego, California; and Cathy Kladiva of St. Louis, Missouri; great-grandniece and nephews: Crystal Masterman of Kaukauna; James Masterman of Green Bay; and Jayson Giordana of Green Bay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Buran, on May 31, 2003. The funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005, at St. Francis Catholic Church, 433 County CE, Hollandtown, with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Hollandtown. The family extends a special thank you to Angelus Community Living and Parkside Care Center for their wonderful care. A memorial fund in Maude's name is being established. FARGO FUNERAL HOME 400 W.
