William Joseph Koenig, 85, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife and children at his side on Sunday, June 3, 2012.
He was born in Marshfield, Wis. on December 13, 1926, to Albert Koenig and Mary Fischer Koenig.
Bill is preceded in his death by his parents, brothers Donald and Jack, and granddaughter Sarah Koenig.
He is survived by his wife, Annita of 60 years; his eight children and their spouses, Mark A. (Nancy), Karleen R. Fischer, Sue Ann Hoyt (George), William J. (Dianne), Frances Mary Slaughter (Jeff), Steven A. (Michelle), Katherine M. Brucks (Craig) and Jennifer A. Drudge (Chris). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, brother, Richard (Roberta) and many nieces and nephews he loved and they loved him.
Bill moved with his wife and four children to Merced in 1958.
He was an accountant and worked for James Uhle for 19 years, and then he started his own accounting business. Son, Steven has taken over that business which is known as Wm. J. Koenig, Inc.
Bill served in the military in World War II. He was stationed in the Philippines.
A visitation was held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced, with Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 671 Yosemite Ave. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Merced. Military Honors conducted by the Merced County VFW Honor Guards.
