Age 72, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, April 9, 2002 surrounded by her loving family. Della was a 1948 graduate of St. John High School in Little Chute and worked at S & H Drug Store for several years. A self-taught seamstress, she manufactured and altered bridal dresses out of her Kaukauna home for the Bridal Shop in Appleton. She was also the bookkeeper/secretary for the family-run business, Bob Van De Lee & Sons, Inc. Della was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she served on the financial committee for several years and headed various booths at the annual Octoberfest celebrations. She was also a member of the Basket Guild, Quilting Guild and several Quilt-of-the-Month programs. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, basket weaving, card playing and spoiling the grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Ann (Hietpas) De Coster. On November 22, 1951, Thanksgiving Day, she married Bob Van De Loo at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. Thanksgiving Day 2001, they joyfully celebrated 50 wonderful years together. They lived and raised their 11 children on a dairy farm in Kaukauna.
Her husband, Robert A. survives her along with five sons and six daughters: John (Anne), Paul (Molly), David, Robert J. (Lisa) Van De Loo, all of Kaukauna; Thomas (Eileen Rueden) Van De Loo, Forest Junction; Peggy (Mark) Lasee, Diane (Bart) Meulemans, all of Kaukauna; Mary (Dan) Geurts, Wrightstown; Patti (Marvin) Vosters, Appleton; Judy (Dan) Eiting, De Pere; and Ann (Mike) Ryan, Union Grove; 28 grandchildren: Dawn (Paul) Krause, Paul Lasee, Jim, Sara, Chris, Jake Van De Loo, Tina (Tim) Leick, Shelly Cornelissen, Jolene Rueden, Jenny, Steve, Joe, Adam and Doug Vosters, Nick, Kelly and Curt Eiting, Calvin and Erica Meulemans, Bobbi Jo and Brian Van De Loo, Sandy Van De Loo, Aaron and Claire Ryan, Cindy, Emily, Tony and Scott Van De Loo; and three great-grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers: Marie Sievers, Kimberly; Evelyn (Will) Carlson, Tequesta, Florida; Norbert (Ruth), Jerome (Peggy) and Leo (Beverly) De Coster, all of Little Chute; Mark (Anna) De Coster, Freedom; a brother-in-law, Francis Demerath; and sister-in-law, Ann De Coster. She is further survived by her husbands family: Theresa (Ves) Van Zeeland, Eunice (Roger) Micke, all of Kaukauna; Mary (Frank) Lamers, Wrightstown; Alice (Jim) Hammen, Little Chute; Sandy (Don) Snelling, Kingston, Texas; Eugene (Lola), Victor (Mary Jane) Van De Loo, all of Kaukauna; Don (Barb) Van De Loo, Oshkosh; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands parents, Jake and Edna Van De Loo; a brother, Lawrence De Coster; a sister-in-law, Muriel De Coster; and a sister, Lorraine Demerath.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna and after 10 a.m. Friday directly at the church until the time of services. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Holy Cross Building Fund. Della never asked for help but gave from her heart. For the city gal that turned farmer, she will be loved and missed by many.
