      Van Lanen, Richard H. "Dick"


      Richard H. "Dick" Van Lanen, 77, Green Bay, died after a courageous battle with cancer, Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, surrounded by his family. Born in Bay Settlement, Aug. 5, 1932, he is the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Pearl) Van Lanen. He married the former Mary Elizabeth Duquaine Oct. 25, 1952, at St. Louis Church, Dyckesville. Dick served eight years in the Naval Reserves. He worked for the Green Bay Water Department for many years until his retirement. Dick loved biking, hunting, fishing, and softball. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

      He is survived by his wife, Mary, Green Bay; five children and their spouses, Robert and Rhonda Van Lanen, Algoma; Roger and Polly Van Lanen, Suamico; Ronald and Mary Van Lanen, Ann and Doug Wichman, Richard (special friend, Yvonne Gwidt) Van Lanen, all of Green Bay; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler (Teal), Evan, Josie, Kristin (Nathan), Vinnie, Elizabeth, Sam, Mackenzie and Carmen and their mother, Corinne; brother, Ken and Sue Van Lanen, Green Bay; sisters-in-law and their spouses, Carol and Will Borley, Green Bay; and Donna and Gerald Fabry, Brussels; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

      Dick was preceded in death by his parents.

      Visitation at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home, University Ave. at Baird Street, Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service Thursday 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday at Saints Peter and Paul Church from 3 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 4 p.m. with Monsignor Roy Klister officiating.
