Head, Marcel
Marcel Head passed away Monday, September 28, 2009, with his loving family at his side, at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born on January 13, 1917, in Hilbert son of the late Orville and Anna (Meier) Head. Marcel married Clarice Westenberger on June 14, 1947, at St. Mary's of Seven Dolors in Stockbridge. Marcel attended the University of Platteville and then returned to the farm until his retirement. Marcel was a lifetime member of St. Mary's in Stockbridge, the Stockbridge High School Alumni Association, the Stockbridge Fire Department, and the Historical Society at High Cliff where he held several positions. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, collecting antiques, and sports. Those who shared his life were blessed by his love and his enthusiasm for life. He was a loving brother and uncle who will be sadly missed by his family.
He is survived by his sisters: Jeanette Head, Beatrice Hoelzel, and Audrey (Dick) Volp; God children: Jane Warren, Gary Head and Margie Gehl; loving nieces and nephews: Bob (Jill) Head and their children, Brian and Dana; Gary (Susan) Head and their children, Ricardo, Luis, and Michael; Dave (Sue) Head and their children, Kiley and Emily; Susan (Denis) Schoen and their children, Matt, Jill (Chris) Davis and baby Devin; Jane (Jeff) Warren and their children, Kelsey and Cole; he is further survived by other nieces, nephews, and cousins; aunt Margaret (Frank) Vanden Boom; and dear friends: Art Gilles, Jenny Bodinger, and Ken Head.
Marcel was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice; his parents: Orville and Anna Head; his brothers: Jerryand Jim Head; his sister, Grace Ortlieb who had just passed away in August of 2009; sister-in-law Loretta Head; brother-in-law, Gilbert Hoelzel, Donald Ortlieb and Walter (Virginia) Westenberger; Clarice's parents: Emery and Kate Westenberger.
Mass of celebration will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stockbridge at 12 Noon on Thursday, October 1, 2009. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at church on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A memorial fund has been established in Marcel's name.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to those that shared their support and compassion for Marcel and his family during his illness including the staff at Chilton Care Center and the Calumet Medical Center for their wonderful care, and to Father Philip and the entire church body for all of their love, support and prayers. We would not have been able to get through this struggle without everyone. We know grief is the price you pay for loving someone.
