 | John Mark Tessen March 6, 1954 ~ June 16, 2024 70 Years Old John M. Tessen “JT”, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton. He was born on March 6, 1954, to James and Mary (Jamison) Tessen in New London, WI and grew up in Hortonville. He graduated from Hortonville High School in 1972. After receiving some training from Fox Valley Tech, he took a job with Pierce Manufacturing in their body shop department and retired in 2016 after over 40 years. John also worked part time for Office Depot/Office Max for almost 20 years. He married Diane Butcher on September 4, 1976, and their marriage was blessed with two daughters. John was blessed with the gift of gab and he loved talking to people. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling in leagues at Super Bowl, working out at the Appleton YMCA, along with walking and hiking outside.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Diane; his daughters: Shaunna Tessen, Appleton; Tara (Peter) Martzahl, Kaukauna; granddaughter, Elizabeth; brother, Robert “Sam” (Gail) Tessen, Texas; siblings-in-law: James “Larry” Butcher, CA; John (Julia) Butcher, Combined Locks; Laura (Larry) Van Groll, Texas; Mary (Tom) Weaver, Florida; Sue (Ron) Johnson, Appleton; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dennis Tessen; his parents-in-law: James and Dorothy Butcher; brother-in-law, Tom Butcher; nephew, Ben Weaver.
A Memorial Service for John will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home (2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton) with Pastor Mike Huff officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
