Notes - Mrs. Theresa Muehl is Dead
Menasha Poineer Succumbs to Long Illness at the Age of 87 Years
Less than a week after her eighty-seventh birthday anniversary, Mrs. Theresa Muehl, one of the pioneer residents of Menasha, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Tuchscherer, Lush street, at 10:40 o'clock last evening. Mrs. Muehl had been ill three years but death came to her peacefully and without pain at the close of a long and usefule life.
Decesed was born in Bavaria, Dec. 21, 1835, and came to America in 1882 settling on a farm in the town of Harrison. Here she lived until twenty-one years ago when she came to Menasha to make her home with her daughter. Mrs. Muehl was believed to be the oldest member of the Catholic organization known as the Third Order, in the United States. She was ordained during her residence in Germany fifty-one years ago and she now wears the gold leaf indicate which denotes her long period of membership.
She is survived by four daughters, MRs. Joseph Tuchscherer and Mrs. John Suess, both of Menasha, Mrs. Max Stadler of Darboy, and Mrs. Peter Klein of Appleton; two sons, Frank and John Muehl, of the town of Harrison; one sister, Mrs. Lena Sommerhaulter, of Long beach, Cal., thirty--nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held from St. Mary's church Friday morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. John Hummel officiating.
