    • Michael A. Sommerhalder, age 61, of Appleton, passed away at Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Michael was born in Appleton, on December 18, 1949, to the late Arnold and Alma (Wolter) Sommerhalder. He was a 1968 graduate of St. Mary High School in Menasha and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin—Green Bay. Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was employed in Arlington, Virginia, by the U.S. Navy as a Logistician, later ending his career in San Diego, California, as a U.S. Government Contract Logistician. He enjoyed baseball, was a cat lover, and especially loved arranging family reunions and time spent with his nieces and nephews.

      Survivors include his nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; his brother-in law, Eloy Greuel, Fond du lac; and his sister-in-law, Sue Sommerhalder, Goodyear, Arizona.

      He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian Greuel and Barbara Ketoff; and his brother, John Sommerhalder.

      Michael's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the entire staff of Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope for their loving care.

      Respecting Michael's wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
