  		Catherine J. Van Vreede, age 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 17, 2023. She was born on April 24, 1926, daughter of the late Edward and Rosella (Bushman) Gilbert. Catherine sewed her entire life. She enjoyed making different creations to give to her family and friends. She loved socializing and being with people. Catherine enjoyed square dancing, playing cards and baking. She spent a lot of time gardening and attending to her flowers. Catherine loved spending time with her family most. Catherine is survived by her children: Sherry Schuh, Denny (Chris) Van Vreede, Dean (Nancy) Van Vreede, Jill (Mike) Rickert and Doug (Jodi) Van Vreede; grandchildren: Kirk Schuh, Kent (Karen) Schuh, Kelly Hietpas, Kim (Sabat) Le Flore, Kara (fiancé, Jeremy Snyder) Schuh, Mike (Tiffany) Van Vreede, Chad (Carri) Van Vreede, Rachel (Carl) Peterson, Dawn (Jay) Midbon, Keith (Michelle) Van Vreede, Ashley (Jake) Miller, Heather (Chris) Pressley, Kiley (fiancé, Michael Medcalf) Rickert, Alex (Kassie) Van Vreede, Esdon Van Vreede and Ella Van Vreede; great grandchildren: Taylor, Cayman, Kyle, Jake (Brianna), Cole, Tajah, Brooklyn, Zariah, Ki, Cullen, Ryah, Crew, Caitlin, Tyler, John, Ben, Marcus, Ashton, Sydney, Lila, Jace, Jewel, Louie, Teddy, Lincoln, Boden, Axel, Carson, Noah and Axton; great great grandchildren: Maddie, Kinsley and Lainey; sister, Noreen (Bob) Wenninger; sisters-in-law: Doris Gilbert, Sue Gilbert and Lorraine Van Vreede; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Van Vreede; parents, Edward and Rosella Gilbert; two brothers; two sisters; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom.
