John Loderbauer was returning from visit with sons when death over takes him.
      (Special to Post-Crescent)
Kaukauna -- John Loderbauer, poineer resident of Kaukauna, died at St. Elizabeth hospital Friday morning as the result of injuries received when passenger train No. 131, due here at 10:40 o'clock, struck him. Mr. Loderbauer was walking along the track about a mile south-east of Kaukauna, as was his custom, coming home from a visit with his sons, Mike and John on their farm. The engineer blew his whistle two or three times, but the aged man was deaf and did not hear it. Before it could stop, the bumper of the engine struck Mr. Loderbauer in the back and knocked him down.
The train stopped as soon as possible and took the injured man on the car, aftwerward calling Dr. Donalson of the city. It was found that the blow had caved in several ribs on his left side, besides causing a fracture at the base of the skull and severe internal injuries. The car carried him to Appleton, where he was rushed from the station to the hospital.
The decedent was born in Germany 77 years ago, but came to this country at the age of 27 and had made his home near Kaukauna since. He was a farmer for many years, but six years ago retired from agriculture and moved to South Kaukauna. Surviving him are three sons, Mike, John, and Joseph, all of the town of Kaukauna; five daughters, Mrs. Mike Palm of Appleton; Sister Josephine of Silver Lake convent; Mrs. Reinhart biese, Mrs. Mike Thiesen, and Mrs. William ?????, all of South Kaukauna.
