Spielbauer, Esther
Esther Spielbauer, age 78, of Menasha, passed away at home with her family by her side. She was born on September 5, 1930, daughter of the late Joseph and Valeria (Luka) Altenhofen, in Menasha. Esther married Richard "Dick" Spielbauer, who was the love of her life, on May 16, 1953, at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Menasha. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1999. Before her retirement she was employed for 21 years in the banking business working for First National Bank and First Star Bank. She then worked part-time at Kohl's Department Store.
Esther was a life-long member of St. John Catholic Church, where she volunteered and was a member of the Rosary Society. She enjoyed knitting, bowling and going up north to Deep Woods Lake. She enjoyed spending valuable time with her grandchildren. Since 1995, Esther was also a very dedicated volunteer at the hospital.
Esther will be missed by her loving children: Michael (Debbie) Spielbauer, Jeffrey (Cindy) Spielbauer, Connie (Bill) Casey; ten grandchildren: Rochelle (John), Aaron (Kimberly), Jake (Mary), Danielle (Brad), Andrea (Dann), Chris (Renee'), David (Sarah), Alicia, Alex, Laura; five great-grandchildren: Isaac, Shaun, Charlie, Frankie and Ethan; one brother, Gordon (Katie) Altenhofen; three sisters: Delores Van Drunen, Dorothy Williams, Jean Woods; many nieces and nephews.
Esther is further survived by three brothers-in-law: Norman (Mary) Spielbauer, Marvin (Ruth) Spielbauer, LeRoy (Sandy) Spielbauer; four sisters-in-law: Sister Mary Lee, Jackie Spielbauer, Carol (Jim) Konetzke, Mary Spielbauer.
Esther was preceded in death by six brothers-in-law: Vincent Van Drunen, Sylvester Woods, Donald Spielbauer, Jack Williams, Edgar Spielbauer, and Robert Spielbauer. Esther was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law: Leo and Mary (Vanderloop) Spielbauer.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at St. John Catholic Church, 516 De Pere Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Radetski officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009, when a prayer service will be held at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha. Visitation will again be held on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will take place in St. John Cemetery, Town of Menasha.
