    • Van Vreede, Helen M.

      Helen M. Van Vreede, of Little Chute, died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was 87. Helen was born in Appleton on October 5, 1918, to the late Joseph and Anna (Reiter) Vanden Heuvel. She married Vic Van Vreede on June 5, 1941 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1981.

      Helen was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxilliary, the Golden Agers and the St. John Mission Club. She enjoyed golf and bowling in her earlier years and continued to enjoy bingo and cards, particularly bridge. Helen loved to travel, but cherished time she was able to spend with her family -- especially her grandchildren.

      Helen is survived by five children: Jo Ann (Ken) Diedrick, Little Chute; Dave Van Vreede, Westmont, IL; Jack (Donna) Van Vreede, Little Chute; Jeff Van Vreede, Little Chute; and Paul (Char) Van Vreede, Appleton; ten grandchildren: Ken (Ann) Diedrick, Teri (Randy) Porter, Jill (Chris) Timm, Rachel and Tricia Van Vreede, Danielle (Dave) Buettner, Stephanie, Scott, Ben and Tori Van Vreede; seven great-grandchildren: Haley and Cory Diedrick, Megan and Ally Timm and Savannah, Deven and Layla Buettner; sisters and brothers-in-law: Elaine, Catherine, Lorraine and Carl Van Vreede and Wynne Vanden Heuvel. Helen is further survived by other relatives and friends.

      In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Clarence, Bob, Jim and Tom Vanden Heuvel; brothers and sisters-in-law: Harvey, Floyd, Al and Margaret Van Vreede, Bill Weyers, Georgianna Weyers and Eleanor Vanden Heuvel.

      The Funeral Mass will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. The Rev. James Hablewitz will officiate. The family will receive friends directly at church Tuesday after 3 p.m. until the time of Mass. Committal St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
