  Obituary. Jacob Regenfuss Departs Life at Home of His Son. Settled in Milwaukee in 1849 When Metropolis was but a Hamlet. 2-9-1912 Jacob Regenfuss, Sr, the aged father of John and Jacob Regenfuss of this city died Tuesday morning at three o'clock at the home of his son, John Regenfuss, where he had made his home since coming to Kaukauna two years ago. Jacob Regenfuss was born in Nuremberg, Bavaria, in 1836, and came with his parents to Wisconsin in 1843 settling near Milwaukee when seven years of age. Their trip from New York City to Chicago was by canal boat to Buffalo thence via the great lakes by steamer to their destination. A small sail boat conveyed them from Chicago to Milwaukee where they arrived in June and where for 60 years they lived on a farm homestead near Milwaukee. Previous to settling in the great west Jacob Regenfuss' father, George Regenfuss, came across the ocean in 1836 and looked over all the territory along the western shore of Lake Michigan but did not immigrate with his family until seven years later when he finally concluded to settle on the farm selected at Germantown. Here he died, also his wife, and here Jacob Regenfuss lived over fifty years. He was married in 1866 to Miss Elizabeth Rossbach of Germantown and fifteen children blessed the union, six of whom survive. Mrs. Regenfuss died at the home of her son, John Regenfuss in this city, a year ago last January and rests in Holy Cross cemetery where today her life's companion was laid beside her. Funeral Obsequies. 2-18-1912 The funeral services of Jacob Regenfuss were conducted last Friday morning at nine o'clock from Holy Cross church by his son, the Rev. George Regenfuss of Caledonia, assisted by the Rev. Jaeckels of Sherwood and the Rev. Wurm of Germantown. There were present from out of town: Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Regenfuss, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Regenfuss, Mrs. Theresa Turck, Mrs. K. Lauman, Mrs. Walrath and John Krentzer of Milwaukee; Mrs. William Regenfuss, Geo. Kreutzer, Joseph Bertlein and Conrad Regenfuss of Germantown; Mrs. Frank Regenfuss of Hubertus; Mr. and Mrs. John Retzner; George Retzner and Mrs. John Schneider, Appleton; Rev. Grosnick of Manawa; J. C. Retten of Kimberly; Mrs. Frank Fadner, Neenah; Mr. and Mrs. Christ Walter and Mrs. Christ Pierce of Menasha. The pallbearers were: Theo. Schmalz, Anton Mankosky, Charles Faust, Anton Reith, Frank Rink and Joseph Paulich.
