Haanen, David W.
David W. Haanen, 40, Neenah, formerly of Kaukauna, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 3, 2009, in Oshkosh. David was born on Sept. 11, 1968, in Kaukauna, the son of Dr. William Haanen and Marianne (Wick) Haanen. David lived in the Kaukauna area for nearly 20 years and attended Kaukauna schools. He was employed at Packerland Packing in quality control for over eight years. David was an avid outdoorsman who loved nature, scuba diving, rafting, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Tyler and Miranda Haanen; his mother, Marianne Lechler (husband, Arthur Look); his father, Dr. William (Peggy) Haanen; his brothers and sisters, Michael (special friend, Sandy), Thomas (special friend, Katti), Michelle (Bill) Richlen, Julie Gerow (special friend, Kent Boettcher), Mary Fink (fiance, Dennis Schink), Karen Seiler and Krista (Chris) Welsh; a half-brother, Justin Haanen; a stepsister, Nicole Schram. He is further survived by the Lechler and Look families, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Haanen; stepfather, Eugene Lechler; his paternal grandparents, Louis and Gertrude Haanen; maternal grandparents, Alphonse and Theresa Wick; and numerous other relatives.
David's Mass of Christian Burial will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna, with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday at Church from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in David's name is being established.
