- Catherine M. Gerrits, 90, Suamico, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, with her daughter by her side. She was born September 27, 1923, to John and Viola (Naniot) Baenen. Kathleen was united in marriage to Norbert F. Gerrits, in September 1947.
Katie had a love of Christmas that lasted all year with a humble true spirit of giving to loved ones and those in need. She was a volunteer for Hazelwood at Christmas and decorated with her extensive Christmas collections. She also belonged to a Bonsai and African Violet Club. Katie loved travelling, and especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Neeka, and her cat, Cuddles. Her love for God was apparent to all. She had a golden heart.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Pete) De Windt; grandchildren, Neeka De Windt, Kirk De Windt, Talon (Zach) Rindels. She is further survived by her siblings, John Baenen, Merlin (Fatima) Baenen, Leland Baenen, Margie Boucher; Godson, Tony Bilgino and his father, Ali; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert; parents; siblings, Marcella (Walter) Kleczka, Clara (Roy) Seroogy, Virginia (Jerry) Konshak; sisters-in-law, Dora Baenen, Doreen Baenen, and brother-in-law, Jerry Boucher.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may also call at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 3370 Deerfield West, Suamico from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Rev. Gerald Prusakowski O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, De Pere.
