- Lisa Stroess, 48, Little Chute, passed away with her husband by her side after a lingering illness Wednesday, March 30, 2011. She was born January 11, 1963, in Appleton daughter of Thomas and Rose (De Decker) Ahrens. Lisa married Kent A. Stroess February 9, 2005. Lisa owned and operated Down the Hill Tavern in Little Chute for several years. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, traveling, darts and watching a good football game. Lisa loved all of her cats, Sassie, Sadie, Maddie and Meka. Lisa's true love was being with her family.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Kent; parents, Thomas (Rose) Ahrens, Appleton; a daughter, Amber O'Connor and special friend, Brian, Combined Locks; stepson, Jesse Stroess, Minneapolis; brothers: Mike (Missie) Ahrens, Menasha; Brian (Missy) Ahrens, Appleton; T.J. (Faren) Ahrens, Cocoa, FL; mother-in-law, Berwyn Stroess, Appleton; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Bill (Vickie), Madison; Doug (Julie), Appleton; Dan (Barb), Seymour; Steve (Karen) Stroess, Appleton; Cindi (Alan) Cousineau, Appleton; Jill (Lonnie) Garrison, Appleton; Amber's father, Todd (Kay) Behling, Little Chute; "special daughter," Heather Schulz, Combined Locks; godchild, Lexi Ahrens; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Lisa was preceded in death by her son, Nicholas "Nick" Behling; grandparents; a father-in-law, Linden Stroess.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 213 E. Wisconsin Ave., Appleton, with Fr. William Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Lisa's family wishes to thank Froedtert Hospital Drs., nurses and staff along with Kindred Hospital, Milwaukee, for their loving care and compassion.
