- Selig, James J. "Jimbo"
James J. Selig, age 62, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2005, after a courageous fight with cancer. James resided at ManorCare Health Services, Appleton. He was born on July 23, 1942, in Appleton to the late Elmer and Florence (Klarner) Selig. Jim graduated from Appleton High School in 1960. He spent many years working at The Left Guard Charcoal House, which he managed in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Florida Jim greatly contributed to their unparalleled success. Jim loved being with his family and friends, and his Green Bay Packers, having known many of the greats of the 60s and 70s. He also worked for Badger Printing and Step Industries.
Survivors include his daughter, Cassandra (Scott) DeWitt, Appleton, and his son, Michael Selig, Appleton his two grandsons, Parker and Prescott DeWitt and his granddaughter, Alexandria De Witt, all of Appleton and his two sisters: Katherine (Gary) Donelson, Appleton, and Suzanne (John) Leathersich, Middleton, Wisconsin his nieces and nephews: Dawn (Robert) Davis-Spector, Abilene, Texas Chadwich Walter, Rockford, Illinois Caroline (Scott) Pelkin, Appleton Kiley Davis, Clinton Township, Michigan and Katheryn Leathersich, Middleton.
James was preceded in death by his father Elmer in 1995 and his mother in 2004, and his beloved sister, Janet Walker in 2002.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2005, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, with Rev. Wendy Wirth-Brock officiating. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of services.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Mooring House and everyone there for all the comfort and strength they gave throughout the years also, to ManorCare, the physicians and nurses who cared for Jim, their names too numerous to mention.
Jim requested the following be passed on: "If you smoke, please stop. Look what it did to me."
