- William "Bill" Hansen, Sr.
After a hard-fought battle with cancer, William "Bill" Hansen, Sr. was called to Heaven on November 6, 2014 in the comfort of his home in Fremont, Wisconsin at the age of 63. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years: Susan Hansen; his sons: William Jr. (wife Angie) and Michael (wife Steph); and his daughter, Becky Inniger (husband Clair).
Bill was born on July 9, 1951 to Clifford and Marie Hansen in Fremont and grew up on his parents' family farm with his four sisters and brother. He was drafted into the Army on February 11, 1970 and married Susan Hackbarth on October 9, 1971. Shortly after marriage they relocated to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Bill was stationed in the United States Army. In 1973, Bill and Susan returned to Wisconsin where Bill began working at Appleton Papers. Bill and Susan started their family on October 26, 1973 and were blessed with four children.
Although Bill worked as a machine operator at a paper mill for 33 years, he was really a farmer at heart. When he wasn't at work he spent his time working the land, raising cattle and crops, and fixing tractors. He loved to hunt, play sheephead with his family, and spend time with his 11 grandchildren. He was especially fond of his puppy, Skittles.
Bill was preceded in death by his daughter Annie; and his mother Marie. He is survived by his wife and children, as well as his father, Clifford Hansen; sisters: Janet Rates, Shirley Liectnam, Patti Schmoldt, and Diane Kohl; his brother: Dale Hansen; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill requested to be cremated. A memorial service will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 105 N. Lincoln Street in Weyauwega on Tuesday November 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
The family would especially like to thank family, friends, and kind medical staff that offered support and prayers during Bill's battle with cancer.
