- Mary M. (Flanigan) Bergner, Little Chute. On Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011, Mary was called home by her heavenly Father while surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Fond du Lac on July 21, 1924, to the late Michael Patrick Flanigan and Clara (Besnah) Flanigan. She married Dale Bergner in Kaukauna on October 28, 1955. Together they shared 49 years of marriage until Dale's death in April of 2004. Mary was an avid Bridge player, of which she earned her Life Masters. She also enjoyed playing Sheepshead and "Funny Rummy" with her friends at Windmill Manor and taking many trips up to Oneida, where she loved playing Bingo. In her early years and even in the last few years of her life, Mary enjoyed making many different varieties of "Christmas Candy." She was also the best cook around! Mary had a huge heart and extended it to many as a loving Mother, Foster Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those that loved her.
Mary is survived by her children: Bob (Andrea) Bergner, Combined Locks; Patrick (Barb) Bergner, Neenah; Gail (Tim) Rowe, Carson City, NV; Nancy (Art) Dellenger, Mount Dora, FL; and her very special daughter and friend Jean (Jim) Hietpas, Little Chute; her grandchildren: Nick, Scott, Kyle and special grandson Wes Hietpas; Nichole, Ryan, Emily and Amanda Bergner; Terry, Scott and Jodi Snelling and Brent Keith; stepgrandchildren: Travis Nett and Nichole (Josh) Arnoldussen; and seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her dear sister and close friend Sister Pat Flanigan S.S.M.; sister Nancy (Bud) Miller; very special niece Betsy (Jim) Vosters; sisters-in-law: Judy Flanigan and Rita Bergner; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary was blessed to have very special friends: Cindy and Pat Cavanaugh, Jean Kortz, Joan Streck, Cathy Timm and Karen Willett.
Mary was preceded in death by grandson Danny Snelling; sons-in-law Tim Ahrens and Hap Snelling; siblings: Glenn, Donald (Virginia) and Jim Flanigan, Kathleen Weiland and Pete (Dobbs) Mears; and sisters- and brothers-in-law: Dolores (Joe) Gregorious, Milton (Mary), Marvin and LaVern (Shirley) Bergner.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St., Little Chute) from 2 p.m. until time of Mass at 4 p.m. The Rev. When my grandma was young, when trains weren't going, she ran under them.
