    • Gladys Heimann, age 96, of Appleton, died peacefully at "The Renaissance" on Sunday, February 12, 2012. She was born on December 20, 1915, in the Town of Center, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Bertha (Hein) Griesbach. Gladys was a resident of Appleton all her life. On August 9, 1947, she married Sylvester Heimann and they shared 38 years together. Gladys was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was employed at Zwicker Knitting Mill prior to her marriage. In her younger years, Gladys enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, upholstery, and most of all, taking care of her family.

      Gladys is survived by her three daughters: Kathy Heimann of Madison; Mary (Bruce) Phillips of El Cajon, California and Ann (Bob) Gedemer of Hortonville; a son: Mike (Laura) Heimann of Grand Chute; brother: Roy Griesbach of Appleton; two sisters-in-law: Jane Griesbach and Gloria Griesbach, both of Appleton; special niece and godchild: Pat (Bob) McCoy of New London. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

      Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Heimann in 1986; sisters: Esther Griesbach and Dorothy (Leonard) Utschig; five brothers: Nicholas "Binx" Griesbach, Roman Griesbach, Cy (Lavonne) Griesbach, Maury (Jane) Griesbach and Leo Griesbach; sisters-in-law: Dorothy "Dot" Griesbach, Delores Heimann and Marie (Peter) Hooyman; brothers-in-law: Andrew Heimann, Edward (Lilas) Heimann and Frank (Margaret) Heimann.

      The funeral liturgy for Gladys will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street, Appleton. Fr. Thomas J. Farrell will be officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. Relatives and friends may call directly at the church from 10:00 am until the time of mass. A memorial fund has been established.

      Gladys enjoyed the friendship with many ladies she met while living at the Renaissance. Gladys' children would like to extend their sincerest thank you to the staff of "The Renaissance" Assisted Living, ThedaCare at Home Hospice, and the medical floor of Appleton Medical Center for their compassion and support.
