- Donald J. Bouressa
"Shy" 2608 Wisconsin Avenue Kaukauna Age 73, passed away Monday, November 20, 2000, at his home, following a brief illness. Shy was born in Kimberly on May 26, 1927, son of the late Joseph and Kate (Strick) Bouressa. On September 1, 1951, he married the former Joyce DeBruin in Little Chute she survives. He was employed for a time by Thilmany Pulp and Paper, but will be remembered by many as a rural route letter carrier for the Kaukauna Post Office. He retired in 1989. Shy served his country both as a member of the United States Navy and the United States Army, and was a member of the Kaukauna VFW Post 3319. He was a sports enthusiast and especially supported Kaukauna athletics and the Green Bay Packers. For many years, Shy's meticulous lawn and landscape was the envy of his friends and neighbors. In his retirement, he very much enjoyed the new friends he made delivering "meals on wheels" and cracking hickory nuts for friends and family. In his early years, he was proud to have been a major blood donor - he knew that his donations helped many injured or seriously ill patients. Sports, lawn care, and other hobbies aside, Shy's greatest joys in life came from his 15 grandchildren - they meant the world to him. Shy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Bouressa, Kaukauna two sons, Kenneth Bouressa, Kaukauna and Frank (Christine) Bouressa, Kaukauna two daughters, Kim (Lee) Weyenberg, Kaukauna and Kay (Mark) Hartzheim, Kaukauna 14 grandchildren, Sara, Wendy, and Angela Joyce Weyenberg Kari, Tyler, and Nicholas Bouressa Tony, Molly, Lucy, Becky, and Donny Bouressa Luke, Jake Donald, and Jon "Jack" Hartzheim a brother, Joseph "Tiner" (Donna) Bouressa, Green Bay a sister, Joyce "Eck" Van Grinsven, Kimberly. Shy is further survived by Joyce's sister and brothers, Betty Peerenboom, Appleton Thomas (Carol) DeBruin, Little Chute James (Laurie) DeBruin, Little Chute her special aunt and uncle, Merle (Jane) Vandenberg and a special family friend, Fr. Richard Thomas. Shy was preceded in death by his parents a sister, Laverne (Robert) Kaufman a grandson, Patrick Weyenberg brothers-in-law, Lawrence "Pug" Van Grinsven and Joe Peerenboom an infant sister-in-law, Betty DeBruin and by Joyce's parents, Frank and Agnes DeBruin. The memorial funeral liturgy for Shy will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2000, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the time of the Liturgy. Joyce and the rest of the family would like to extend their deepest thanks to a variety of individuals whose efforts made Shy's last days more comfortable. They include the staff at Appleton Medical Center, Theda Care at Home, the Visiting Nurses Association, Dr. John Swanson, Kathy Grissman, and the rest of the staff, Dr. Alan Cherkasky, Steve Veldman and NCS Healthcare. To Fr. Jack Mullarkey and Fr. Jim Lucas - thank you both so very much. Your visits and prayers mean more than we can say. FARGO FUNERAL HOME 400 W. Wisconsin Avenue Kaukauna 766-6200
