- Richard "Dick" Houfek, born March 17, 1938, passed away at his home on June 18, 2017.
Born and raised in Appleton, Richard proudly wore many hats: loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, friend and veteran. Rather than touch on his many accomplishments, Richard would be more proud to know that he left us with our own special memories of him, memories that create smiles rather than sorrow that he is no longer with us. He loved deeply. He had a gentle soul. He had an unforgettable laugh. Richard was truly one of a kind.
Richard leaves behind his beloved wife, Christine (Murphy) Houfek, his children, Timothy Houfek, Victor (Brenda) Houfek, Robyn (Michael) Koehler and Mary Jo (Bear) Schultz. He is survived by his sisters, Cookie, Debbie and Bonnie, his brothers, Ron, Gary, and Jim, 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son John and brother Rayme.
Richard will be missed by Allen and his other good friends at the Golden Basket, the wonderful people at Fox Communities Credit Union, his kind neighbors and so many others who he was lucky and proud to call his friend.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 West Marquette Street in Appleton on Friday, June 23, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by mass at 11.
The family would like to thank Hillary from Affinity Hospice for her extraordinary care.
