- James Frank Hill, 76, of Rolling Mill Road, Negaunee, and formerly of Appleton, passed away in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice late Thursday evening, September 1, 2016 at UP Health System Marquette.
Jim was born April 16, 1940 in Antigo, Wisconsin to Vernon and Millie (Verhagen) Hill and attended school in Appleton. He was employed as a welder for Miller Electric in Appleton for 28 years, retiring in 2000. Jim married Charlene Gischia on July 3, 1991 in Appleton and they moved to Negaunee in 2001. Following their move to the U.P., he worked as the maintenance attendant at the Cleveland Cliffs Research Lab in Ishpeming for four years.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed cutting and trimming trees, recycling metal, spending time working and socializing in his garage with friends and family, and was an avid Nascar fan.
Surviving are his loving wife, Charlene Hill of Negaunee; his son, Michael J. Hill of Appleton; three step-sons: Mark (Kim) Hill of Appleton, Brian Hill of Appleton and Michael W. Hill of Milwaukee; his step-daughter, Rita (Todd) Hausher of Michigamme; two brothers, Bernie and Al Hill of Appleton; his sister, Marion Jorgensen of Fortuna, CA; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Pamela Hill; and his son, Jeffrey Hill.
Honoring Jim's wishes, private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
