    • Dollar, John

Early Saturday morning, November 5, 2016, John R. "Jack" Dollar was called home into the loving arms of Jesus.

The son of John and Lydia (Matzke) Dollar was born in De Pere.

John graduated from De Pere High School, where he played baseball and football. He was proud to say he played for Dad Brasier, and was offered a chance to play baseball professionally.

John served his country in the Korean War, and to this day remains close friends with several of his comrades.

Upon his honorable discharge, John went on to study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated with degrees in business and banking.

Business was a passion of John's, and he had many business adventures over the years. He was dedicated to his church and community, and he was generous with local charities.

John enjoyed traveling, sports, playing cards with the Manders and Dollar families, gardening and his vineyard.

Above all, John loved Jesus, his family and spending time with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; Troy (Paula) Verheyen, Kevin (Tammy) Verheyen; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, in-laws and other family members.

Family and friends may call at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, beginning at 8:30 AM on Thursday, November 10, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM, with Father Joseph Dorner officiating. Burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

RYAN FUNERAL HOME, De Pere, is assisting the family. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the Dollar family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established by the family to support The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Zhaowei Ai, Dr. Anthony Jaslowski and Dr. Tangee Sinclair for their compassion and care for John.

Our dearest John, thank you for making our community an even more special place to live.

"A community isn't buildings, factories, shops and streets. It's peopleā€¦ and what they're doing for and with each other. This is the strength and limitless potential of the American community."
