- Robert J. Brosig, 86, De Pere, passed away Nov. 26, 2011. He was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Bellevue, to the late Paul and Nellie (Vanden Langenberg) Brosig. On Sept. 7, 1946, he married Erna Matzke at St. Mary Church in De Pere.
He was a self-employed mason contractor and operated Brosig Brothers Construction with his brother, Richard. Robert loved music, especially singing and playing the guitar, sports, deer hunting, Cribbage and the Packers.
He is survived by his children, Ken (Janet) Brosig, Tom (Robin Midcalf) Brosig, Gayle (Bob) VandenPlas and Kim (special friend, Jeff Kielpikowski) Brosig; former daughter-in-law, Janet Sassone; and former son-in-law, Mark Pinkert; 12 grandchildren, Rob, Scott, Jenny, Theresa, Ebony, Joe, Randy, Nicole, Ashley, Tony, Shannon and Cindy; 14 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; sisters-in-law, Marie "Tina" Brosig, Dorothy Matzke, Pat Matzke; brothers-in-law, Russ Matzke, Sylvester Jankowski, Don Gazella; special friend, Sam Nooyen; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by brothers (spouses), Ervin (Shirley), Bernard (Geraldine), Richard (Rosie), Paul and Donald; two sisters, Florence "Toots" (Al) Umentum and Carole (Chubby) Van Ermen.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church with Fr. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, De Pere. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for local hospice agencies.
