- Walter Schuler, 85, formerly of 440 N. Milwaukee St., Plymouth died Thursday afternoon at Rocky Knoll, where he had been a patient two months. He was born Sept, 5, 1886 in the Town of Rhine, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schuler. On Oct. 11, 1910, he married Lillie Brickheimer in the town of Russell. The couple resided in Elkhart Lake before moving to Plymouth in 1960. Mr. Schuler was employed at the Laun Lumber and Furniture Co. and at the Farmers Mercantile in Elkhart Lake until retiring in 1969, and was a Plymouth park caretaker from 1962 to 1966. He was a member of the Community United Church of Christ in Elkhart Lake, the Elkhart Lake Fire Department for over 50 years and served as village constable at Elkhart Lake for five years several years ago.
Survivors are his wife, three daughters, Miss Margaret Schuler of Chicago, Mrs. Ralph (Evelyn) Kretsch of Crystal Lake and Mrs. June Staples of Plymouth; one son, Elroy of Waupaca; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, one brother, Fred, Manitowoc and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Fahres of Sheboygan and Mrs. Oscar Mertens of Kiel. He was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.
