Reed, Lloyd E.
Lloyd E. Reed, 82, Allouez, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 16, 2009, at a local hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 16, 1926 in Seymour, Wis., son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Mullen) Reed. Lloyd graduated from Seymour High School in 1944 and served his country in the US Army during the occupation after World War II in the Philippines and Japan. Lloyd married Joyce Duquaine on Jan. 29, 1949, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and celebrated 60 wonderful years on Valentine's Day with their loving family. He worked for FMC from 1952 until 1986 as a service engineer, traveling in the US, Canada and Mexico. He was an avid Packer fan; a season ticket holder since 1957. He also loved woodworking, making beautiful furniture and toys for his children and grandchildren. He had a love for nature including bird-watching, boating and fishing. Dearest to him was his family, whom he loved to spend time with. Lloyd had a gentle spirit and great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce; eight children: Stephanie (Mark) Kollath, Green Bay; Lynn (Dan) Shafel, Madison; Michael (Gail) Reed, Green Bay; Laurie (Ron) Ropson, Green Bay; Andy (Cindy) Reed, Eau Claire; Peter (Lisa) Reed, Plainfield, Ill.; Shawn (Molly) Reed, Prattville, Ala.; Maureen (Steve) Sellin, Green Bay; eleven grandchildren: Kristin and Tim Shafel; Mick, Caitlyn and Bridget Reed; Chris and Bethany Brodhagen; Holly and Melanie Reed; Connor and Sarah Reed; step-grandchildren: Aaron and Sarah Ropson; step-great grandchildren: Trystan, Cole and Kaylan; three siblings: Don (Dorothy) Reed, Seymour; Patrick (Donna) Reed, Green Bay; Joan (Jim) Kralovetz, Crivitz; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Gladys Reed, Wauwatosa; Delores Gillis, Kaukauna; Pearl Brunner, Green Bay; Nancy (Ed) Nelson, Sobieski; Laverne Duquaine, Green Bay; Clyde Pasterski, Green Bay; Jack Faccio, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
Family and friends may call Monday, April 20, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr., Allouez. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with Father Robert Karuhn officiating. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, 336-8702, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
