- Irene L. Wunrow
Minocqua formerly of Appleton Age 83, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2000, at Seasons of Life Hospice House, Minocqua, Wisconsin. She was born October 12, 1917, in Pulaski, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Stazak) Robaidek. Irene graduated from Shawano County Normal and taught in rural schools in Pulaski, Suring, Cecil, Greenville and Appleton. She received her Bachelor's Degree in 1961 and her Master's Degree in 1971. While teaching in Appleton in 1947, Irene met and married Lester Wunrow, who had his own painting and decorating business. They had a daughter, Nancy. Irene then returned to teaching as a Kindergarten teacher in Kimberly for two years. She continued to teach in Appleton until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Appleton; Outagamie County Retired Teachers Assoc.; Wisconsin Retired Teachers Assoc.; National Retired Teachers Assoc.; AARP; Ladies of St. Mary's and Thompson Senior Center. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ronald Hunt, Minocqua; three grandchildren, Ronnie Lee Paynter, Fort Atkinson; Michael (Catrice) Hunt, Fennimore; Jessica (Peter) May, Minocqua; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Sinda, Libertyville, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester; four brothers, Frank, Julius, Stanley, and Tony Robaidek; three sisters, Marie Burkhardt, Selma Kenders, and Angeline Swinkles. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2000, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with the Rev. Bob Lexa officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.
