    • Madeleine "Maggie" (Van Berkel) Dishno, age 81, of Neenah, formerly of Larsen, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 26, 1929, in Little Chute, to George and Mabel (LaBeauf) Van Berkel. Maggie was a graduate of Appleton West High School. She served her country during the Korean War as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. For 37 years, Maggie worked at the Neenah Foundry in the purchasing and human resources departments. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne. Maggie thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors including playing golf, boating, snowmobiling, fishing, bird watching, and gardening. She also liked visiting casinos, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her many friends.

Maggie is survived by one sister, Bette Williams, of Michigan; one brother, Wally Van Berkel, of Michigan; one sister-in-law, Terry Van Berkel, of Combined Locks; numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend, Jean Kessler, of Neenah; and many friends.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her adoptive parents, Charles and Stella Dishno; one brother, Ed Van Berkel; one sister-in-law, Mary Van Berkel; one brother-in-law, Duane Williams; and her special companion, Rita Monroe.

A Funeral Mass for Maggie will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 210 Pleasant Dr., Winneconne. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha. A Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Maggie's friends and family wish to thank her neighbors, Katie and Catriona MacKinnon, for their loving care and support of her. Without them, Maggie may not have been able to stay at her home.
