Cummings, William E.
Cummings Road,
Hortonville
Loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and good friend, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on December 7, 2009, at age 86. He was born on October 6, 1923, in Hortonville, son of the late William P. and Ursula (Puth) Cummings. He was the last of the Greenville Bachelors until July 14, 1970, when he married Mary M. (Bohman) Baehman.
Bill was a bus driver for 35 years for the Shiocton and Hortonville School Districts. He loved to farm and had fun with his tractor collection, and always enjoyed a good Romy's chicken dinner. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the township of Ellington, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Two Cylinder Club.
Bill was always up for a visit. No one was a stranger for very long. He loved a good joke and he loved to laugh. He also enjoyed his polka music, a full cookie jar and watching a Packers game.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Elizabeth (Joe) Lefeber, Hortonville; and son, John (Melissa) Cummings, Hortonville; and the children he inherited when he married Mary: Julie (Dennis) Brandt, Hortonville; Philomene Dvorachek, Appleton; Gerard Baehman, Merrilan; Jean (Jerry) Julius, Greenville; Mary (Gary) Hart, Hortonville; Katherine (Robin) Fannin, Hortonville; Karla (Brian) Boushley, Hortonville.
He was proud of his family and his many grandchildren: Katie, Carolyn, Mary Grace and Monica Lefeber; William and Casey Cummings; Peter (Tia) Brandt, Sarah (Kevin) Werner, Mary (Chad) Pope, Therese (Todd), VanStippen, David, Matthew (Brittney), Stephen and Karen Brandt; Celia (Dale) Zimmerman, Eli, Caitlin, Keir Dvorachek, Marin (Dan) Willison, and Elise Dvorachek; Kimberly and Joseph Baehman; Abigail (Aaron) McGlone; Brittney, Jordan, and Anne Metz; Christian Julius; Tricia, Melissa, Luke (Amber), and Paul Fannin; Becca, Patrick, Megan, and Ethan Hart; Michael Fannin, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Coenen, Nicholas (Nicole), Jacob, Rachel, Christopher, Alex, Monica, Sarah, Maria and Tony Fannin; Samantha, Hannah, Tessa, Michael, Caleb, John and Claire Boushley; 35 great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren: Matthew (Emily), Cara and Zachary (Corrie) Hart, and Jessica Julius.
He is also survived by one sister, Mary Ellen (Harold) Hinkens, Muskego; three brothers-in-law: Edward Bohman, Hortonville; Anthony (Marilyn) Bohman, Hortonville; Don Janssen, Little Chute; sisters-in-law: Therese Corr, Riverside, CA; Gale Bohman, Hortonville; Grace Bohman, Appleton; and Faye Schulz, Sherwood; nieces and nephews, including a special niece Ann Kirchner, Shiocton and a special nephew/godson John Janssen, Hortonville.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; a brother, Frank; sisters: Ursula Kirchner and Agnes Janssen; brothers-in-law: Francis Bohman, William Bohman, Dr. William Corr, and Theodore Kirchner; sisters-in-law: Louise Bohman and Margaret Bohman; a step son Joseph; a granddaughter Louise Brandt; a son-in-law Robert Dvorachek; and a great-grandson Liam Fannin.
The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 12, at 11 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. David Lewis, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stephensville. Friends may call on Friday at the Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
