    • Died at his home in our village, Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1914, George Diedrich, aged 76 years, 11 months and 6 days.
He was a man of good habits and character, and thereby made many friends who join his family in mourning his timely death. The stern Reaper found him “as a shock of corn, ripe for the harvest." But not for him be our tears! Rather let us crown his grave with garlands; few of us will live as long or so well and fewer yet will the Angel of Death greet with such a loving touch.

George Diedrich was born in Germany in 1837. He emigrated to America in 1865, locating in the town of Woodville. He was married to Katherine Zimmer of Chilton in 1866. She died about ten years ago. He operated a farm until six years ago when he moved to our village to retire from active work. Mr. Diedrich had been in good health until about six months ago when he contracted a cold on his lungs which, in spite of the loving care of his family, grew worse until pneumonia set in and caused his death.

He is survived by ten children,
      George,
      John,1869 - 1938
      Mary,
      Susan, (Mrs. John Lex), 1875 - 1937
      Jacob,
      Kate, (Mrs. John Leick),
      Nick,
      Mike,
      Agnes and
      Peter,
besides a large circle of relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held Friday from St. Mary’s Church at 9:30. Rev. M. Oswald will conduct the services.
