- Gerald "Jerry" Cleven, 83, Green Bay, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Oneida, to Christ and Frances (Vercauteren) Cleven. On Aug. 7, 1948, he married Joyce Roskom at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Jerry loved to hunt, fish, play cards and play golf. He was exceptionally good at building curio cabinets, cedar chests and television tables. While he was "up North" at his cottage, Jerry loved watching and feeding the deer, squirrels, turkeys, bears and cubs. When Jerry and Joyce were at home, they loved to feed and watch the squirrels. One of Jerry's favorite pastimes was playing jokes on his wife.
Jerry worked for Wisconsin Accredited, Woody Cheese, farmed for four years and worked at Wisconsin Public Service for 33 years. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Cleven; a sister, Dorothy (Jack) Heezen; two brothers, Jack (Jane) Cleven, Dan Cleven; one sister-in-law, Maxine Cleven; two brothers-in-law, Ted (Sharon) Pamperin, Carl Wagner; three nephews that were so good to Jerry, Dan (Lori) Pamperin, Don Pamperin, Robert Pamperin; four nephews and one niece that treated Jerry like family, Tom (Sandy) Cleven, Jim (Mary Kay) Cleven, Larry (Sarah) Cleven, Mark (Shelia) Cleven, Carol (Tim) Schumacher; also several other nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by a son, Gary Cleven; his parents, three brothers, William, Lloyd and David Cleven; two sisters, Jeanette VanLanen, Joan Wagner; two sisters-in-law, Rita Cleven and Ruth Cleven.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. TODAY. A Parish Wake Service will be at 7:30 p.m. TODAY. The visitation will continue at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. Jerry's family would like to thank Dr. Mark Jensen and his nurse, Vicky and the receptionist at the Dousman Clinic.
