    • Michael J. Penkala, age 53, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Michael was born on March 25, 1958, in Appleton, to the late Edward and Magdalen (Geiger) Penkala. He married Jackie Vander Linden on August 30, 1984. Michael was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He graduated from Appleton West High School in 1976. Michael was employed at Laydwel Floors for over 19 years, and most recently as a truck driver for Creative Metal Products. Michael was well-known as an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan, in addition to being a fan of NASCAR. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jackie; his daughter, Jenny Penkala; his brothers, Jim (Cindy) Penkala, Rick (Carla) Penkala and Alan (Sheri) Penkala; his nieces and nephews, Justin and Eric Penkala, Danny and Ryan Penkala, and Chelsey Penkala. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Penkala, and his brother John Penkala. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, with Deacon Gerry Schraufnagel officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name. Michael's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Gold Cross Ambulance and the Appleton Police Department, for their loving care.
