William Fox, resident of Butler county for a number of years in the early days, father of Mrs. M. D. Murphy of David City, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wade, in Columbus, where he had made his home most of the time during the past 25 years. His death was from kidney trouble and complications due to his advanced age 80 years.

Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Murphy and son, Raymond, and John Fox and family went to Columubs to attend the funeral services which were held at St. Bonaventure's church Monday morning at 9 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Father Isadore. Burial was in Center church cemetery, Butler county, by side of the grave of Mrs. Fox. Rev. Father O'Sullivan of Center, conducted the service at the grave, at which a large number of friends were in attendance.

As a young man he was ticket agent for a railroad company at Holland Station, Wis., and there he was married in 1867 to Mary McDonald.

Mr. and Mrs. Fox moved to Nebraska and Butler county in 1878, locating on a farm seven miles south of David City. Mrs. Fox died in 1887. Mr. Fox continued residence on the farm for 13 years, then resided in Omaha for eight years and then made his home with his daughter in Columbus most of the time until his death, except for some time spent on a homestead in Wyoming.
