- Russell L. Ganter, Sr., 62 of Green Bay, died Wed. Jan. 2, 2013 at home with his wife and daughter by his side, following a twelve year courageous and hard fought battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born on Oct. 13, 1950 in Green Bay to the late John and Eleanor (Juneau) Ganter. Russ lived his whole life in Green Bay. He married Lisa Leisgang of Seymour on Nov. 10, 1990 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. Russ worked as a store manager for McDonald's Restaurants in Green Bay for 29 years. He then worked for General Maintenance Inc. up until his diagnosis on July 4, 2000. Russ loved to hunt and fish. He also loved watching the wild life in the backyard.
Russ is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lisa, their daughter Carly, and two furry sons, Pepper and Buddy who were always at his side at home; his daughter Brandi (Chad) Hart and son Russell Jr. (Lori) Ganter all of Green Bay; grandchildren, Lauren and Brady Hart; Tyler, Abby and Benjamin Ganter. He is also survived by one sister Carol (Gilbert) Jarvis of Ohio and one brother, John (Carol) Ganter of Green Bay; mother-in-law, five brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Russ is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and special sister-in-law.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street on Sunday from 4 to 8pm. Funeral Service will follow at 8pm at the funeral home with Chaplain Elisabeth Sinclair officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com
The family would like to express a special thank you to the Aurora Visiting Nurses, Hospice, especially Val, Sarah, Lynn, Michelle and Chaplain Elisabeth for their extra care, compassion and laughter.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Russell's name.
