Schroth, Lorraine C. (Gomm)
Lorraine C. (Gomm) Schroth, of Appleton, age 82, passed away on April 15, 2009. She was born Lorraine Catherine Gomm on June 20, 1926, in the Town of Maine to the late Raymond and Dora (Schmit) Gomm. Lorraine was a graduate of Shiocton High School and Valedictorian of her class. She was Outagamie County Dairy Queen in 1946. She worked for the Shiocton Kraut Company. On June 10, 1947, she married the love of her life, Clarence Schroth, at St. Denis Catholic Church, Shiocton, sharing 54 years together until his death on September 14, 2001. She lived in Shiocton until 1956, when she and Clarence moved their growing family to the Town of Grand Chute and started their family farm.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Catholic Knights. Her legacy is raising her eight children, all of whom she is very proud. Her favorite activity was gardening and growing flowers, especially yellow roses, tulips and irises.
She is survived by her eight children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren: Vernon (Kathryn) Schroth, Stevens Point, and their children, Erin (Jeff) Anderson and Derek Schroth; Robert (Priscilla) Schroth, San Jose, California, and his children, Katherine (Francisco) Rodriguez and Jason (Julia) Schroth, and grandchildren Margarita and Francisco; Carl (Paula) Schroth, Appleton, and their children, Joel (Kim) Schroth, Sarah (Karl) Hehl, and Beth Schroth (fiance Michael Seiler), and grandchildren, Garrison, Vanessa, and Natalie; John (Nancy) Schroth, Appleton, and their sons, Lance (Tari) Schroth, Luke Schroth, and Scott (Michelle) Schroth and grandchildren, Aidan, Natalie, and Owen; Paul (Darlene) Schroth, Greenville, and their daughters, Danielle, Samantha, and Lindsey; Mary Schroth (Gary Tritz), Madison; David Schroth, Appleton; and Rita (Mark) Joshi, Atlanta, Georgia, and their daughter, Victoria. Lorraine is survived by her brothers and sisters: George (Rosemary) Gomm, Jerome Gomm, Germaine (John) Croell, Kathleen (Glenn) Leeman, Rosella Zitske, and Raymond (Diane) Gomm. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Nancy Porter, LaVerne Knapstein, Florence Hooyman, Marion Schroth, and Marcella Schroth; and brother-in-law, Gerald Jarek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her sisters, Dorothy Jarek and Annaceil Gomm, and her brother, Charles Gomm, and her parents-in-law, Robert and Frances Schroth, her brothers-in-law, Ray Schroth and Elmer Schroth and her sisters-in-law, Lenora Helser and Angeline Hartsworm.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, on Monday, April 20, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Entombment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel on Sunday, April 19, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, April 20, 2009, from 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund on behalf of Lorraine Schroth is being established.

Although my life has ended, your life should continue. I ask that you realize how much other people love you and how each day is precious.
