      Jochman, Richard L.


      Richard Lee Jochman, 61, St. Joseph, Minn., died Dec. 31, 2009, having struggled many years with MS. Richard was born Jan. 10, 1948, the son of Edward P. and Eunice M. (Schmeichel) Jochman in Appleton, Wis. He grew up in Black Creek, Wis., and graduated from Seymour High School in 1966. He graduated from St. Norbert College in 1970 and received his PhD from the University of Kansas in 1978. He taught chemistry at the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University, Minnesota, from 1977 to 2000. He also coached the College of St. Benedict women's basketball team for three years.

      On June 14, 1969, Richard was united in marriage to Nikki Van Cuick at St. Joseph Catholic Church on the campus of St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis.

      Richard is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nikki; his son, Kyle (Amy); granddaughter, Katelyn; his father, Edward; four sisters, Rosanna (LeRoy) Frahm, Nancy Phoenix, Margie (Dick) Thomson, Angie (Keith) Moehring; seven brothers, Don (Cheryl), Ray (Joy), Paul (Mary), Peter (Jo), Tim (Kenny Tilleman) Stan (Sue), and Ben; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

      He was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice.

      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Collegeville, Minn.

      Memorials may be made to the College of St. Benedict general scholarship fund.
