- Garold J. Dorschner, 92, passed away at his home in Appleton, on Saturday, April 16, 2011. He was born on June 2, 1918, in Dale, Wis., son of the late L. Ray and Alda (Kaufman) Dorschner. On April 12, 1952, he was united in marriage to Janet Grapengieser in Iowa. He honorably served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Garold worked with Wisconsin/Michigan Power Co. for 19 years as an electrician and then for the Coors Brewing Co. in Colorado, until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed researching geneology and had a passion for photography, but most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family and many dear friends. Garold will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone who needed it.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Janet Dorschner, Appleton; sons, Terry Dorschner, Boston, Mass.; and Jeffrey Dorschner, Appleton; daughters, Carolyn (Daniel) Cheever, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Christine Burge, Appleton; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
A funeral service for Garold will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 530 W. Parkway Blvd., Appleton, with the Rev. Darin D. Aden officiating. Family and friends may visit at Valley Funeral Home TONIGHT from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
A memorial fund is being established.
The family would like to especially thank the staff and nurses of ThedaCare at Home and his beloved friends, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Priller, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Berg and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Meleon, for their kindness, care and concern.
