      Van Rite, Sophia M.
      Sophia M. Van Rite, 98, Green Bay, went home to be with Howard on Friday, May 2, 2008.
      She was born on Dec. 10, 1909, in Green Bay to the late Peter and Collette (Gevers) Calewarts.
      On Nov. 24, 1949, Sophia married Howard Van Rite at Annunciation Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on April 22, 2001.
      She enjoyed going up north, fishing, cooking, gardening, sewing, playing cards and bingo. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
      Survivors include her son, Michael (Durene) Van Rite, Mountain; three grandchildren, Michelle Van Rite, Brenda (Dan) Renier, and Jason Van Rite, all of Green Bay; four great-grandchildren, Tia, Dakota, Landon, and Madie; and many nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
      Friends may call at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St. from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at the church with the Rev. David Pleier officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
