Willems, Richard H. Richard H. Willems, 65, of De Pere passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, August 22, 2006, at a local hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family, who supported him through his seven-year battle with cancer. Rich was born August 8, 1941, to the late Joseph and Marian (Ambrosius) Willems. He graduated in 1960, with the first graduating class from West De Pere High School. Rich served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966, including a tour of duty in Viet Nam. On January 9, 1965, he married the former Mary Pat Rademacher at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Rich was a member of VFW Post 2113.

In his earlier years, Rich enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his garden, flowers and squirrels. Rich was devoted to his wife and was proud of his children. He loved his granddaughters very much and the time spent with them baking cookies and cupcakes, playing in the pool, watching Price is Right and High Fives always brought a smile to his face. A recent afternoon of fishing at Mary’s Pond will be something the girls will always remember.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Pat, and their children: Bob (Dawn) Willems, Barb (Ed Wojkiewicz) Willems and Patti Willems; three granddaughters: Taylor and Kelsey Willems and Saige Wojkiewicz along with Chloe Kleuskens, whom he considered “another” granddaughter. He is further survived by brothers, Joey (Joanne) Willems, Les “Sonny” (Diane) Willems, Jim (Betty) Willems, two sisters, Helen (Jim) Calhoun, Mary (Rick) Nickel, as well as his step mother-in-law, Agnes Rademacher and her family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marian Willems, a brother, David and in-laws, Cliff and Rita Rademacher.

Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday (TODAY) August 24, 2006. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish Family, Lourdes Avenue at Suburban Drive, until time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Church with Father Tim Shillcox, O. Praem., and Deacon Mike VanderBloomen, officiating. VFW Service will follow the Mass.
