Van Boxel, Phyllis L.
Phyllis L. Van Boxel, 80, Green Bay resident, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at Unity Hospice, following a long illness. She was born Sept. 3, 1927, in the town of Eaton, to the late Stanley and Pauline (Holda) Winiecki. Phyllis married Donald Van Boxel Sept. 25, 1947, in Green Bay. He preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1973. She was employed by St. Vincent Hospital in Food Services until her retirement in 1995. Phyllis was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Mary of the Angels Parish.
She is survived by five sons, Gary (Peggy), Dyckesville; Joe, Glenn (Laura), Mike (Kay), Steve (Lynn), all of Green Bay; eight grandchildren, Derek, Dylan, Maria, Breckin, Jenae, Erica, Trevor and Tearanie; two brothers, Arthur (Donna) Winiecki and Robert (Agnes) Winiecki, all of Green Bay; four sisters-in-law, Genevieve Winiecki, Mardell Winiecki, JoAnn Winiecki, Barbara Winiecki, all of Green Bay; nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dick (Mary) Van Boxel, Green Bay; three sisters-in-law, Ione (Frank) Piontek, Elaine (Ken) Blohowiak, Jo Ann (Dave) Minton, all of Green Bay.
She was preceded in death by one son, Paul; six brothers, Norbert and Irvin, who were killed in World War II; Clarence, Raymond, Benedict and Richard Winiecki; two sisters, Patricia (Raymond) Sokolski and Mildred (Louis) Kugel; two brothers-in-law, Al (Jeanne) Van Boxel, George (Donna) Van Boxel; two sisters-in-law, Lucille (Bob) Burgoyne, Betty (Chet) Cieslewicz.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. (TODAY) Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Parish Wake Service 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels, corner of Cass and Irwin. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. at the church with Fr. Tom Wojciechowski, OFM officiating. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in Phyllis' name. Phyllis' family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Green Bay Oncology, Dr. Bayer, the nurses and staff of St. Vincent's 9th Floor and the nurses and staff of Unity Hospice. Their care and concern has been greatly appreciated.
